At Clan Davidson Designs, we understand that memorial jewellery is far more than something you wear. It represents love, memories and the people or pets who will always remain close to your heart.
Each piece is handcrafted with great care and deserves the same attention to help it stay beautiful for years to come.
Everyday Wear
Your memorial jewellery is designed to be worn and treasured, but removing it during certain activities will help protect both the metal and its finish.
We recommend taking your jewellery off before:
- Swimming or using hot tubs
- Showering or bathing
- Applying perfumes, lotions or hairspray
- Cleaning with household chemicals
- Gardening or DIY
- Heavy lifting or high-impact sports
Avoiding these activities will help reduce scratches, knocks and unnecessary wear.
Cleaning Your Jewellery
Regular cleaning is simple and will keep your jewellery looking its best.
Use a soft microfibre or jewellery polishing cloth to gently remove fingerprints and everyday marks. If a deeper clean is needed, wash your piece in warm water with a small amount of mild soap before drying thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Never use bleach, harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners or ultrasonic cleaning machines unless specifically advised, as these may damage certain finishes.
Looking After Sterling Silver
Sterling silver naturally develops a darker patina over time due to exposure to air and moisture. This is completely normal and can easily be restored using a quality silver polishing cloth.
When not being worn, storing your jewellery in a dry place will help slow the tarnishing process.
Stainless Steel & Titanium Jewellery
Our stainless steel and titanium collections are incredibly durable and resistant to tarnishing, making them an excellent choice for everyday wear.
Simply wipe clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth whenever required.
Looking After Gold Jewellery
Gold is a beautiful and durable precious metal, but it can still become scratched through everyday wear. To keep your gold jewellery looking its best, remove it before swimming, using hot tubs, exercising or carrying out heavy manual work.
Clean your gold jewellery regularly using warm water, a small amount of mild soap and a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners and bleach, as these can damage the finish.
Store your gold jewellery separately in a soft pouch or presentation box to help prevent scratches from contact with other jewellery.
Looking After Platinum Jewellery
Platinum is one of the most durable precious metals and is highly resistant to tarnishing. Over time, it naturally develops a soft satin-like patina, which many people appreciate as part of its character.
To clean platinum jewellery, wash it occasionally in warm soapy water and gently dry it with a soft, lint-free cloth. Although platinum is extremely strong, it can still scratch, so removing it during heavy manual work or high-impact activities is recommended.
Store platinum jewellery separately from other pieces to help minimise surface marks and keep it looking its best.
Safe Storage
When your jewellery isn’t being worn, keep it in the presentation box or a soft pouch to protect it from scratches.
Avoid storing multiple pieces together, as metals can rub against each other and cause surface marks.
